The Scarsdale Diet Program Easy Protein Bread Recipe
If you have committed to the Scarsdale Diet programs, you have discovered that protein bread is an important part of the diet. Many who follow the Scarsdale Diet program weight loss method cannot find the protein bread at their local grocery store or pay high prices at gourmet grocers for the bread. Here is a simple (but exceptionally good) recipe for bread.
Protein bread from the Scarsdale Diet program
Ingredients:
A cup of lukewarm water
A tablespoon of dry yeast
½ teaspoon of salt
A teaspoon of sugar
½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar
½ cup soy flour
¼ cup gluten flour (Gluten flour has far fewer carbs than regular flour. You can substitute gluten-rich bread flour if you can’t find gluten flour.)
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour.
Place water in a medium mixing bowl. Sprinkle dry yeast in a bowl and let stand until yeast dissolves (about five minutes). Add the salt, sugar and vinegar to the bowl. Mix well.
Sift together the soy and gluten flours. Slowly add to yeast mixture in bowl.
Sift the whole wheat flour and add it to the mixture in a bowl. Swirl the mixture slowly until the dough sticks together (and not to the sides of the bowl). If you have a blender or food processor with dough hooks, these help tremendously with mixing.
Lightly flour a board or other surface. Shape the dough into a ball with floured hands and place it on the surface. Knead for five minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place in a small loaf pan that has been sprayed with nonstick spray. Adjust the dough to the shape of the mold (bread shape). Do not try to touch the dough all the way to the sides of the pan. Cover with a slightly damp cloth and put in a warm place (away from drafts) to rise. Let rise for two to three hours until the dough has at least doubled in size and reaches the top of the loaf pan.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for one hour or until lightly browned.
Scarsdale Diet Program bread will be much denser than regular bread. Cut into thin slices. Store unused portion in refrigerator.
In order to keep your Scarsdale diet plan loaf longer (or if you want to make several loaves ahead of time); you can double wrap the loaves in plastic (after slicing them thinly); and store them in the freezer. Get what you want out of the freezer, because you need it while following the Scarsdale diet programs.
Toasting bread before consuming it during Scarsdale diet programs makes the bread more palatable and easier to eat (dense bread can be a bit dry and chewy).
If baking your own bread isn’t for you; you can find low cost options at the grocery store. You should look for low fat, low carb options that are whole wheat bread (never white). You will lose the most weight with bread from the Scarsdale Diet program by choosing a bread with more than 4 grams of protein and less than 12 grams of carbohydrates.
THE Scarsdale Diet Program Protein Bread is an integral part of the diet. In order to achieve optimal weight loss during the Scarsdale diet programs, you will need to make or purchase protein bread. The recipe offered here is relatively simple and you won’t need a lot of baking experience.
